How do you come up with all those inspiring ideas for your blog?
Let’s have a discussion about how you find topics to write about on all your first-rate blogs! I’ll tell you some of my ideas, then I’ll open the floor for all of your illuminating input! There are many other bloggers out there and I’m curious about how all of you fine people come up with all your stunningly diggable posts every day!
I read a few blogs each day. I like to read blogs about my niche and also outside my niche. I like to read many different kinds of posts to get ideas about what I can write about. I also like to see how other bloggers structure their articles.
Google up some websites. One thing that I have personally found to be very useful and inspiring, is to use search engines to bring up related websites (non-blogging sites) to read. I have gotten some really great ideas from googling for non-blog sites and reading for a couple of hours and jotting down notes.
Keep a notebook handy. This is an excellent idea. Keep a small notebook in your pocket along with a pencil or pen. I am always coming up with ideas for my blog posts while I shop, work out, run errands, and at other times during the day. Jot all your ideas down and evaluate them later when you have more time. I also keep an notebook and pencil at my bedside for those middle-of-the-night brainstorms. Another great time that I tend to come up with ideas for blog posts is when I first wake up. I dream about blogging on many nights.
Brainstorm with your friends. This can be very fun, especially if you have friends that are also interested in blogging. Talk over the latest blogging trends, such as tumblelogging and microblogging with Twitter and interlinking your twitters with your bookmarks on Del.icio.us and other social bookmarking sites! Be sure to jot your ideas down if you can!
Get a messageboard and record your blogging ideas there. This is something that I’ve been doing for over a year. You should get an Invision Power Board, but you can use ProBoards which are free. I have a list of over 200 blogs (with URLs) and hundreds of blog ideas for posts as well as a section where I have dozens of blog articles in varying stages of development. Once I finish an article, it goes straight into my WordPress Dashboard draft queue.
Read the comments on your blog. I have already developed blog articles from comments made on my blog. Your readers will give you exciting, useful ideas for your blog posts.
Turn your reader questions into blog articles. Transform your readers’ requests into blog articles. This is an excellent way to interact with your readers! For example, BigPappa posed a few questions in the comments and I answered with this article!
Look for questions you can help with on forums. When you find a question asked by a poster on a blogging forum (or on any forum related to your niche) that you can answer, write an article on your blog that answers that poster’s question. Then go to the forum and sum up your answer for the poster and provide a link to your article in your blog. (Be sure to ask the forum administrators first before linking to your blog article!!!) If linking is not allowed in the forums, then consider posting your entire article on the forum. In your blog article, you should also reference the poster who’s question you are answering. You can do this by mentioning the name of the forum poster and the forum she posted her question at, as well as providing a link to her blog or website at the beginning of your post. This is one way to drive traffic from blogging forums to your blog!
Now I turn the floor over to everyone! I would really like to know your views on what I posted above, as well as how you go about finding topics that you like to blog about on your A-List blogs! All of your viewpoints and comments are encouraged and welcomed here!
Don’t miss another inspiring blogging article!
