Do you set boundaries?

You are blogging to the World Wide Web, every time you post to your site. Millions of people worldwide can view your riveting blog articles 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Web is an open publishing platform for all. Once you’ve posted information on the Web, it’s there for all to see, and you can never, ever take it back. Once it’s out, it’s out!

Because of this stark fact, you really need to consider what boundaries you will set in your blogging.
You should decide on boundaries for your blogging and then stick to them! For example, I do not post personal information on my blog. I love to blog about my set of niche topics, which can be summed up as blogging about blogging tips.

You really need to think about what you say on your blog. Try not to gossip about your job, or boss, or other coworkers. It can backfire on you drastically! People have been fired from jobs after their blogs were read by management. If you are blogging about someone, try to stick to the facts. Blogging falsehoods about people could lead to legal troubles.

The best thing to do is just blog about your niche topic, avoid giving out personal information in your blogging, and steer clear of gossip. Enter into controversy with caution. Controversy can help you get readers’ attention, but overdoing it can get you into trouble.

Do YOU set healthy boundaries in your blogging? What boundaries do you set? If you don’t set boundaries in your blogging, Why not? Have you ever gotten yourself into trouble from blogging? You’re encouraged to weigh in! Tell us about your experiences!
