Do you enjoy drinking sweet drinks while blogging?

This is a very important question. Stop for a moment and examine the drink you guzzle regularly while blogging: Is it SWEET?

More importantly, DOES IT CONTAIN ASPARTAME?


I am GUILTY of guzzling sweet drinks while I blog. I am so damn guilty of this that if it were a serious crime, I’d be doing life plus twenty in a SuperMax! I love to drink sweet teas and coca colas and other sweet drinks while I blog. Hey, blogging is really HARD WORK and I AM entitled to a few perks!

I recently visited a fellow blogger. She was drinking coffee that had been heavily sugared (and halfed-and-halfed to DEATH). She was not using refined sugar, she was loading it up with one of those artificial sweeteners. She dumped about fifteen of those little packets full of aspartame straight into her coffee and drank it down with GUSTO!!

I know that all that excess caffeine is really bad for my health. I thought I had everything all figured out. There was no way I was gonna overload my system with all that coffee. I went to the store and smugly bought about 30 three-liter bottles of Diet Coke! They were conveniently on sale!

I confidently went to my computer and started to lovingly type out another excellent, dazzling article for my beloved readers. I’ve got this HUGE plastic container that I pour the Diet Coke into. I filled it and carried into my office where I carefully placed it on the floor next to my workstation. No way was I gonna spill my sweet drink into my keyboard (Been there, Done that). So I drained my huge container of Diet Coke while I developed another great blogging article, all the while congratulating myself on how wise I was to quit mixing all that refined white sugar into my tea and to start drinking Diet Coke.

I was so addicted to the stuff within months that it was amazing. I developed headaches and my poor eyes hurt so damn bad and I could not figure out what the heck was wrong! I was popping pain relievers like candy! It did not make me gain weight, because I love to spend an hour on the cardio machine and lift weights regularly. But man how my head hurt!

The epiphany came when I was out talking to some of my friends about my headache and what I could do to relieve it when someone mentioned ASPARTAME. Seems some of my friends were also guzzling diet drinks to try and lose weight and had developed serious headaches.

So, we quit the diet drinks cold turkey and tried drinking water instead. We live in the city. Have you ever tasted urban water? It’s HORRIBLE! Sometimes I wonder whether choosing water over the aspartame-laden Diet Coke was worth the trauma of choking down all that chlorinated city water!!

Well, my headaches resolved. I found relief. My eyes stopped hurting. I felt much better. I was not craving Diet Coke at 3AM every day anymore. We all lost a few pounds from drinking water over a few weeks. I was exercising so I was already in fairly good shape.

If you feel you really need to drink sweet drinks while you blog, try unsweetened fruit drinks. Better yet, try ice water with lemon juice added to it or with orange juice added to it. You’ll have better health and you’ll blog better too. Kick the sweet drinks habit and get off the poor health treadmill.
