Blogging mistakes to avoid

There are several dangerous pitfalls located on the road to blogging success. Read on and I’ll point some of them out to you. After reading this article, you’ll be able to skillfully avoid these setbacks and advance your dazzling blog!

Default themes. Try not to use default themes. I use the WordPress blogging platform. One of the main reasons I use WP is that there are thousands of themes that you can use on your WordPress blog! Get a professional blog template developed for your blog. That can be a bit pricey, but if you are really serious about advancing your brand, that’s the way to go.

Excessive controversy. It’s actually a great idea to be controversial every now and then, but if you do it all the time, it can backfire on you. Also, be careful about how you develop controversy on your blog. Don’t badmouth someone’s family or religion or anything like that. Sure, it’ll get you some traffic and attention, but you could bring down a world of hurt on your blog which could damage your reputation. It could even land you in scalding-hot legal trouble!

Focus your blog. You should use your tagline to let your visitors know exactly what your blog is about within fifteen seconds of landing on your page. Then, focus your blog posts on a specific set of topics. Don’t focus too narrowly, but please don’t try to be everything to all people lol.

Build, build and keep building your content. When you first start a blog, you will only have a few articles. Visitors will land on your blog and see that you don’t have much to read, and they might move on. Everyone had to start somewhere, I can still remember when I had only three blog posts back in June this year! The key here is PERSISTENCE. Keep posting regularly. Try to post consistently about three to five times a week. If at all possible, try to post at roughly the same time on the days that you do publish an article. Your readers will come to expect this of you and you’ll begin to build a readership.

PATIENCE, my young apprentice! This is very, very important. You must have patience. Blogs take a while to build up traffic and a loyal readership. Expect at least 1 to 2 years for starters. Blogs like John Cow dot Com and Skelliewag.org are the exception; they enjoyed a meteoric rise in the blogosphere and are still explosively growing. Sometimes it seems the entire world is not reading your fine blog. This is when you gotta knuckle down and concentrate. Concentrate! Keep on blogging and have patience! People ARE reading and enjoying your blog! They are also subscribing to your informative blog.

Don’t go bonkers with ads! Some bloggers plaster their blogs with ads. This pitfall has claimed a lot of beginning bloggers. Exuberant after reading about Darren Rowse’s success with monetization, they happily proceed to put up ads on their blog and also get involved with too many affiliates. I would suggest that you start with a few ads at first, then add more gradually as your blog grows.

You want more comments? Then ASK for them!! This is what you should do: At the end of each of your fine articles, turn the floor over to your readers. Invite them to weigh in with their two cents about how they REALLY feel about your blog post! Do this regularly and I GUARANTEE YOU that you’ll get more comments on your entertaining blog!

Follow through on the above pointers and your blog will enjoy dazzling SUCCESS! You’ll avoid those bloggers pitfalls! Your readership will increase as your blog’s popularity surges! You’ll receive more comments, some of which will give you ideas for more blog posts!!

It’s high time I turned it over to all our readers. You’re invited to express your views about this post. Tell us how you REALLY feel about it!
