Blogosphere & Internet are Supply and Demand Oriented

The Internet shows us the law of supply and demand in its most basic form. People surf the Internet looking for things (they exercise their demand, traversing the Internet for the supply of what they are demanding).

Role of Search Engines in Supply and Demand

Search engines are the vehicles to link customers or those doing the demanding, with the products, information and/or services being demanded (the supply). This is done using search terms and phrases to link the right things to the right people at the right time, and in the right form.

Google, for example, does this quickly (knowing speed is essential to the online experience) and can display the information in various forms such as html, text or pdf.

Keywords, Supply and Demand

While I wish all keywords were dead, the fact is they are not. The search engine world relies on keywords heavily and we must therefore know how to use them at least to a minor extent (20% of our focus but not 80% of our focus as such).

That said, based on keywords and search phrases, delivery will be either something useful or useless. So saturation and strategic placement of them, while important now, will hopefully go away in line with all that I’m discussing here. Until them use them to a small extent, just don’t overdo it.

Supply, Demand and the Quality Blogging Movement

In a world of ever increasing supply of blogs, in order for people to find what they are looking for, truly value-based sites, search engines must make better logical decisions of which sites to include or exclude. They do this based on algorithms constantly being improved to deliver the best quality and relevant content of value.

Search engines will only increase their efforts to provide quality content in the future because the cluttered up world of the blogosphere will only increase the demand for better quality content amongst such a sea of non-quality, non-relevant junk sites.”

Quality vs Quantity

Today, admittedly, junk sites are increasing in number faster than the quality sites are. The name of the game right now is post whatever you want fast and now. That;s great for us, but what about for others?

Search engines will find a sure way to exclude junk sites soon, and are doing so right now as you read this. Hobbyists and those only doing things for the social networking aspect need not worry, But those doing it for business or profit, take heed.

Bloggers Take Heed

This is a supply and demand blogosphere. Bad supplies will be tossed out and ignored. Only quality and value-based content will survive and prosper because that is what people are looking for when they search (demand). The search engine wars will be based on quality and speed of delivery.

As more quality is being demanded while less quality is being produced, the non-quality sites will be left far behind while high quality sites will gain ahead.

The only question remains is this: What are you doing to ensure you stay ahead rather than get left behind? My advice…
